INSPECTION

PROCEDURE

1. INSPECT OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY LH (for Standard)

(a) Check the outer mirror motor operation.

(1) Apply battery voltage and check operation of the mirror face.

OK:

Battery Connection

Specified Condition

Positive (+) → 10 (MV)

Negative (-) → 11 (M+)

Turns upward (A)

Positive (+) → 11 (M+)

Negative (-) → 10 (MV)

Turns downward (B)

Positive (+) → 12 (MH)

Negative (-) → 11 (M+)

Turns left (C)

Positive (+) → 11 (M+)

Negative (-) → 12 (MH)

Turns right (D)

(Outer Rear View Mirror Assembly LH)

If the result is not as specified, replace the outer rear view mirror assembly LH.

(b) w/ Retract Mirror:

Check the retractable mirror's movement.

(1) For each position: Disconnect the battery, set the mirror position by hand, connect the battery, and check the retractable mirror's movement.

NOTICE:

  • Disconnect and reconnect the battery between each mirror position check.
  • Do not apply battery voltage when moving the mirror by hand into each mirror position.

If the result is not as specified, replace the outer rear view mirror assembly LH.

(c) w/ EC Mirror:

Check the EC mirror operation.

NOTICE:

Do not apply a voltage of 1.5 V or higher.

(1) Connect a 1.5 V dry-cell battery.

(2) Apply 1.5 V dry-cell battery voltage and check operation of the mirror face as shown in the table and illustration.

OK:

Battery Connection

Specified Condition

1.5 V dry-cell Positive (+) → 14 (EC+)

1.5 V dry-cell Negative (-) → 13 (EC-)

Mirror surface becomes dark

(d) w/ Outer Mirror Light:

Check the door mirror foot light.

(1) Apply battery voltage to the s of the connector, and check the illumination condition.

OK:

Specified Condition

Positive (+) → 6 (MLP)

Negative (-) → 5 (MLP-)

Door mirror foot light illuminates

(e) w/ Mirror Heater:

Check the mirror heater.

(1) Apply battery voltage and check the operation of the mirror heater.

OK:

Positive (+) → 1 (+)

Negative (-) → 2 (-)

Mirror becomes warm

HINT:

It will take a short time for the mirror to become warm.

If the result is not as specified, replace the outer rear view mirror assembly LH.

(f) w/ Turn Signal Indicator:

Check the turn signal indicator.

(1) Apply battery voltage and check the operation of the turn signal indicator.

OK:

Battery Connection

Specified Condition

Positive (+) → 4 (TS+)

Negative (-) → 3 (TS-)

Turn signal indicator illuminates

(g) w/ Blind Spot Monitor System:

Check the blind spot monitor indicator.

(1) w/o EC Mirror:

Apply battery voltage and check the operation of the blind spot monitor indicator.

OK:

Positive (+) → 18 (BSM+)

Negative (-) → 5 (BSM-)

Blind spot monitor indicator light illuminates

(2) w/ EC Mirror:

Apply battery voltage and check the operation of the blind spot monitor indicator.

Blind spot monitor indicator light illuminates

2. INSPECT OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY LH (for Extended Type)

(a) Check the outer mirror motor operation.

(1) Apply battery voltage and check operation of the mirror face.

OK:

Specified Condition

Positive (+) → 10 (MV)

Negative (-) → 11 (M+)

Turns upward (A)

Positive (+) → 11 (M+)

Negative (-) → 10 (MV)

Turns downward (B)

Positive (+) → 12 (MH)

Negative (-) → 11 (M+)

Turns right (D)

Positive (+) → 11 (M+)

Negative (-) → 12 (MH)

(c) w/ Running Light:

Check the running Light.

(1) Apply battery voltage to the s of the connector, and check the LED illumination condition.

(d) Check the mirror heater.

(1) Apply battery voltage and check the operation of the mirror heater.

3. INSPECT OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY RH (for Standard)

(a) Check the outer mirror motor operation.

(1) Apply battery voltage and check operation of the mirror face.

Negative (-) → 11 (M+)

(1) Connect a 1.5 V dry-cell battery.

(2) Apply 1.5 V dry-cell battery voltage and check operation of the mirror face as shown in the table and illustration.

1.5 V dry-cell Positive (+) → 14 (EC+)

1.5 V dry-cell Negative (-) → 13 (EC-)
