REMOVAL

PROCEDURE

1. PRECAUTION

CAUTION:

Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing.

NOTICE:

After turning the ignition switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal. Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the battery terminal notice before proceeding with work.

2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION:

Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

NOTICE:

When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

3. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH

HINT:

Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

4. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIM BOARD RH

HINT:

Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

5. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

6. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL

7. REMOVE LOWER NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY

(a) Check that the ignition switch is off.

(b) Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.

CAUTION:

Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

(c) Remove the 3 bolts and the lower No. 2 instrument panel airbag assembly.

(d) Using a screwdriver, pull up and release the connector lock and disconnect the airbag connector.

NOTICE:

When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

HINT:

Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

8. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY

9. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL MOUNTING BRACKET

(a) Remove the bolt and No. 2 instrument panel mounting bracket.
